Your favorite concept car
If you had unlimited resources and could drive any concept car (100% functional as presented of course) - what would it be?
Mine: 1995 Ford GT90 http://image016.mylivepage.com/chunk...0prototype.jpg http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/wall...0-Interior.jpg http://image.motortrend.com/f/images..._GT-90-B-L.jpg http://www.special-classics.com/Arch...p/gt90rear.jpg Someone is building a replica in Austrailia - DO WANT! |
This ride gets my vote:

The car that made me want to have the S2000...
...the SSM concept. http://www.scorpiocars.net/images/Ho...%20Concept.jpg |
|
I'd go with the Furia as well.
For concepts that I would have loved to see built for the common guy, I liked the Nissan Mid 4 back in the eighties, http://zhome.com/History/Images/MID4_7.jpg the Dodge Razor concept, http://wallpapers.conceptcar.ee/dodge/razor/01-1024.jpg and the Plymouth Pronto Spyder. http://www.seriouswheels.com/images/...o_Spyder_2.jpg I have high hopes for the recent VW BlueSport or whatever that thing was called. http://img.worldcarfans.com/2009/1/l...e-sports_4.jpg |
|
There are a couple I'm partial to.
Honda HSC. http://img.infocoches.com/img/honda/...cept-001_1.jpg Chrysler ME Four-Twelve. http://sportscarforums.com/gallery/d...ve_Concept.jpg Not a car, but I love this bike. Honda NAS (North American Sport) http://www.motostories.com/uploaded_...iew-727444.jpg This one too. Honda EVO6. http://www.hondaph.com/forum/extensi...tachmentID=730 |
http://fp.images.autos.msn.com/meris...bbAcuraHSC.jpg
The Acura HSC gets my vote. Sure, it's basically an NSX with a restyled body but that thing is gorgeous. It could have a 0-60 time of 7 seconds and I'd still love to drive it. |
|
As weird as it feels to pick a Cadillac, I do really like the Cien concept:
http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-ab...en-Pillars.jpg Although I'll also go oldskool, and mention the Corvette-based Pininfarina "Rondine" concept, which I'd love to own: http://image.motortrend.com/f/auctio...ne-concept.jpg |
The Cien in the movie "The Island" was AWESOME. :p

Just so you know, the GT90 handled horribly, based on the Top Gear episode. It was fast in a straight line, though!
For me, I'd go with the Prodrive P2. Relatively affordable, blazingly quick, handles like nothing else (in a good way), and proven drivetrain components. For an exotic, I'd say the VW W12 or Chrysler ME Four-Twelve is right up there. The Mazda Furai is insane but not streetable. |

Obviously it was designed to sit on turn tables and "wow" people - and it sure had a lasting effect on me. Assuming it DID live up to its "credentials" - 720HP TT V12, etc - it would have been amazing - and that would include handling that would back up the other stats. Maybe thats why I have blue wheels now? Hmmmmmm LOL. |

Maserati Birdcage... total Matchbox racer
Described as a tribute to the Maserati of the future, Pininfarina built this show car with the famous Tipo 59 of the late-'50s in mind. It features an exposed front triangulated frame structure and large inner windscreen under its canopy top, which lifts up and forward with the hood for ingress/egress. It has an Acura NSX-like nose, large V-shaped rear diffusers, 22-inch wheels, lots of carbon-fiber, and a host of Motorola interconnectivity technology. This car first appeared at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, and continues to make the rounds with its North American debut in Los Angeles. http://www.carpages.co.uk/maserati/m...e_28_06_05.jpg http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-20...y-1024x768.jpg http://articles.motortoday.com/featu...BirdCage-4.jpg http://articles.motortoday.com/featu...BirdCage-2.jpg |

Honda HSC of course. It's a shame that this car wasn't production-built.

That Datsun/Nissan was done by an independant graphic artist, not someone working for Nissan.

http://inlinethumb14.webshots.com/41...600x600Q85.jpg The second picture was taken by yours truly. This car looks great in person. I hope they don't change much. TSX also looks awesome. |
I've always liked the Honda Spocket. I'd buy one.
