So m wifes rav4 picked up some sort of thick black spray from the road. It straches off with my finger nail, but still leaves a smooth black substance behind. I tried useing Dawn dish soap and massageing off with no luck.

What do you guys suggest i use to remove this stuff without ruining my paint.

You can pick up a claybar locally pretty cheap at most auto supply stores as well.

Blue magic, Meguiars and Mothers all make good OTC products you could use

Claybar ftw, walmart sells mothers and meguiar, I found that the meguiars was a better value and works very well.
