I totally love my 2010. I custom ordered it and had to wait 8 months to get it, and I've heard nothing but stories of near-zero production since then. I'm not sure what the deal is on that.
The financial decision is up to you, but if the money makes sense, you won't be disappointed. The DFI motor in the genII model is awesome; good power down low, with a great surge at the top end, and I get 21mpg even driving it like an idiot.
If you plan to track every weekend and want every tenth of a second, get PDK. If you have to drive in heavy traffic constantly, get PDK. If neither of those are true, get the 6-speed (I did). It's way too much fun to pass up if you don't actually need the capabilities of the PDK.
Get SportChrono, no matter the transmission choice. I nearly didn't and I now realize that would have been a huge mistake.
You know you want one.

If I were a wealthy single man, I'm fairly certain I'd have a PDK Cayman S in the garage next to my S2000. And I'd DD it. But as a guy who can only have one sports car, I can't see buying a coupe (I love the drop top) and I can't see paying that much more than my S2000. My car is worth about $12k, and I can't imagine a new Cayman S is $50k more fun than my car (not a fair comparison, I know, but you know what I mean.)
