Default 1989 Isuzu Impulse Turbo - My first love

Hi guys,

before I was a proud s2k owner I was the owner of a very special 1989 Isuzu Impulse 4ZC1 intercooled turbo. The car was a really fast 5 speed RWD car with Handling by Lotus.

Just wondering if any other member remember this car and did any of you own one?? They are super hard to find now, so rare that parts are non existent unless you are one hell of a fabricator. I want another one, and just saw a nice one go for about $2500 on CL. Mine was blue like the one in the pic, but red always did this car justice...what a fun car to drive.. Interior was ahead of its time and so was most of the car itself...

Giugaro Ace of Clubs? Ace of Spades? Whatever, I forget.

Nice looker and I love the dash.

Lotus input must have dramatically improved the T-car (Chevette, etc.) chassis.

Huh not sure I have ever seen one of those. Looks kinda like some of the 80's accords or AE-86's. Good luck on finding one.

The front-end reminds me of DeLorean.

I remember the 2nd generation of the Impluse that was based on FWD platform, which was also sold as GEO Storm, if I'm not mistaken. I think it came with DOHC NA engine with around 140hp or so. That one also had a sticker on the side that said "Tuned by Lotus."

A friend of mine had one in college, non-turbo, I thought it was a nice car.

I think "awesome car" is pushing it quite a bit. It wasn't a bad car, but nothing about it was outstanding.

Don't say that until you drive one. It would out corner any of our S's with ease..and was very fast. The 2.0ltr turbo really spooled up well and the rwd made the car just too much fun..until it was time to get repairs..very expensive..
