2 rotting 928 porsches.... :(
Check out these two poor 928 porsches that have been rotting behind a house in Wormlesburg, PA (right across the river from Harrisburg, PA) for at least 5 years and possibly 10.
How much were these thing new? The closest one looks like a newer model. the older one could be a 1979 for all I know.

older one could be a 924 even....hard to tell
Check the quarter windows, bumper shape (or lack thereof, THE definitive 928 styling feature), the inset tailights, etc. That's allll 928.
You'll have to get a bigger Porsche nut than me to ID the years though, the way I do it is via the wheels, and they both appear to have aftermarket ones.

The back car has the original "phone dial" wheels so it is an early 928, with the 928S spoilers added.
You might be able to make one good one out of those two cars, but given the price and availability of parts, fixing them up would undoubtedly cost a lot more than they are worth. You can probably get a runner of the same vintage for $15k.
It is a shame to see such nice metal rotting away though.

the older one has the original wheels...that is why i guessed it is about 1979 or close..... the closer one has a different wing system and a lower / newer looking front end.
Nothing like letting $70k (when new) cars rot.

It appears that the openings around the wheel don't have the lip around the opening like the phone dials do on their outer circumference:
Maybe it's just a bad angle, but the wheels on that Porsche look flat and untextured, instead of having the deeper-dish rim and raised edges of the openings like the actual phone dials have.
Of course, I'm using a 17" CRT monitor, if I was using an LCD I might get a better picture.

Great cars, but those two will need a TON of money and TLC to bring back. Unfortunately 928's can be somewhat maintenance intensive and it would cost more to bring them back than they are worth in present condition.

Isn't the 928 still the only V8 production Porsche or do they stick an 8 in the Cayenne?
