Isn't the 928 still the only V8 production Porsche or do they stick an 8 in the Cayenne?
V8 in both the Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo (with turbo, obvi).

Also, the upcoming "Panorama" sedan will probably have an 8.

Don't forget the fog lights.

Yeah, in case I go to the swamp.

The paint looks in great shape for "rotting".

Couldn't say the same with todays cars if left out in the sun for years

Yeah, aside from appearing to have sunk into the gravel, they don't appear to be "rotting" to me.

But, then, a 928 can still be hiding thousands of dollars worth of damage under immaculate skin.

my buddy has a house right around the corner... he said those cars have been there at least 5 years, but he thinks it is more like 10.....

i am sure there is dry rot everywhere....

take the newer one, strip it down and drop a 600hp chevy crate motor into it.

I find it ironic you said these cars are rotting...in *WORMLEYSBURG*, PA of all places. I'm guessing both cars are between 82 and 85 in vintage.

Anyhow, I like 928s, but I didn't really understand Porsche's insistance on having 2 cars that were about the same size, but completely different in the engine bay. To me the 924/44 and 928/68 were fighting twins. Neither was necessarily prettier than the other, though in that Scarface pic, the 928 looks rather basic and unflattering.

944=pure, relatively light, 4cyl sports car, known for handling, around $40-50k in today's money.

928=bigger, heavier GT, V8, around $120k in today's money.

They don't really have much in common aside from a vague silhoutte.

The 924, 944 and 968 are all the same family. All inline fours, both N/A and FI. These were sports oriented, inexpensive alternatives to the 911s. Less power but better handling. Looked down upon by many.
The 928 is a completely different Porsche line. Only came with an N/A V8. Heavy, high power GT type car.

The 924, maybe, but the 944 ad 968 are STILL thought of us some of the best handling cars of all time. Only badge snob "the only real Porsche is an air-cooled rear engined one" fags look down on them, enthusiasts hold them in VERY high regard.
