Porsche targa tops are notorious for either rattles or falling off their rails. I'd get a cab with a hardtop if I was looking for an open-air experience IMO.

This looks like a different design:

You don't suppose there is some chance they made some improvements, sort of like they did with the 911 itself?

not sure. The 996 targa I test drove had that same extra "trunk" seen in that pic though.

I like the idea, but IMO if spending near $100K for a 911 then I'd pop another $10K and go for the GT3. I like wind and sun as much as the next guy, but I imagine the weight penalty is noticable.

BTW this looks very slick, and I think it'd be better than the 911 Cab, it's a nice sunroof, but IMO it's a lot of dough for a sunroof. (I think it's about $8K more than the 911S).

Complete waste of R&D. Sold like a dog. Waste of money. Either get the regular Carrera S with the regular sunroof, or get the cabriolet. Waste of time & energy on a car that won't sell.

x2

How about half the top down goodness of a convertible with twice the chasis flex of a hard top in one craptacular package!

I'd take one for free but if I were paying for it I would go elsewhere.
