2011 BMW Z4 sDrive35is
There's a leaden heft to the wheel in Sport+ mode, but nothing you would describe as steering feel.
2011 BMW Z4 sDrive35is
Base Price:
$61,925
Price as Tested:
$64,225
Engine:
Twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter inline-6
Gearbox:
7-speed, dual-clutch automated manual
Power:
335 hp @ 5,900 rpm, 332 @ 1,500 rpm
0-60 mph:
5.0 seconds
Fuel Mileage:
17 city/24 highway mpg (EPA-rated), 22.9 mpg (observed)
What Works (pros):
Huge torque from twin-turbo inline-6, quick gearchanges from dual-clutch gearbox, perfectly executed retractable hardtop.
What Needs Work (cons):
Lacks signature BMW steering feel; 19-inch tires compromise the ride without a payoff in grip; wonky manual seat adjustors in a car that automates everything else.
Bottom Line:
The top-of-the-line Z4 doesn't live up to its performance-themed "is" billing. It's fast, yeah, but its handling falls short of the standard Z4 sDrive35i.

What idiot came up with this horrible new (I know it has been around for a few years) naming scheme? It's honestly what I would expect one of these Chinese car companies to name one of their clone cars.

Forgive me, oh knowledgeable one. Don't pay attention to BMW very much.
Their ///M line has gotten far too extensive. Give me and E30 M3 and call it a day.
