2016, er, 2017 Acura NSX aimed at Ferrari 458 for the price of Audi R8

I have mixed feelings about the new NSX. I'm excited because I'm curious (and hopeful) on how its performance will stack up against the competition. It's about time the R35 GTR had a real competitor from Japan. I'm also happy that Honda is bringing focus back to performance cars in general.
However, even if I had the money I'd be very unlikely to purchase one. It's just not the type of car I lust after. While the car objectively has great performance potential, it doesn't speak to me the way my 1991 NSX does. Regardless of price, I'd rather own a 997 GT3, Cayman GT4, or even the much cheaper GT350R. Those 3 cars should give anyone enough hints as to what I want in a sports car.
So yes, I am quite excited for the new NSX. But I also don't want one. It's complicated.

Doesn't matter. Rob-2 is again changing the rules. Apparently it's not in production until they've made two.

How much is this hybrid battery replacement?
These are garage queens and most would not use as daily drivers. So that is one expensive replacement part for a collector car.
And wonder what Honda's warranty coverage is for hybrid battery dying for garaged too long and kills it.

You do realize that they only have one car on the road and you're already asking about hybrid battery replacement, right? Doesn't that strike you as a little....premature?
It's a small battery pack - it should be significantly less than a typical hybrid. Considering the price of the car, the battery pack is a small cost. It's like asking what it costs to do the valvetrain on a Ferrari - it's "a lot" if you're comparing to a $25K econo-car but it's nothing compared to the cost of the Ferrari.

I did have a question for you. Do you have a NDA with Honda? Just curious as it seems Honda must pay you to do the forum promotion.

Not that I'm trying to answer for Jon, but this is a car forum - it's whole purpose is to talk about cars, so it's not odd when somebody talks about cars. I suspect it's just as likely that Jon is being paid by Honda as rob is being paid by a competitor - which isn't likely at all.
