^ I had the SRT intake on my 99...never dyno'd it, but it was a noticeable difference. Well worth the money, IMO.
I also had the RMM (Rod Millen Motorsport) exhaust and rear diff converter changed, made a big difference as a package.

maybe i misunderstood you. were u trying to say that the LS400 was faster than the LS430?
i read it as LS400 > GS430 (or GS400 for that matter).
BTW, does anyone know what a SRT Intake + ECU + exhaust gives you on a GS400? I read from SRT's website that SRT Intake + ECU = +30hp & +30 tq. and exhaust is like another 15hp or something. It's a lil hard to believe! Any real world #'s?

Both the 98+ LS400 and LS430 have the same output-290hp. The LS400 is lighter.
As far as weight - the GS weighed in at 1674Kg (3690lbs) and the LS was 1764Kg (3888lbs).

I have a 99 GS400 I am about to list for sale- PM if interested! It has been an outstanding daily driver for the past 2.5 years. They are great cars. The only major maintenance is the timing belt job at 90k-100k, and they are otherwise cheap to maintain just regular fluid changes. I have since sold my SRT Intake/ECU, but it is definitely worth the money!

This isn't the one I had, I don't think they make them anymore, but here's a link to one Lextasy
From what I remember, there was quite a bit of performance lost in the gear changes (Lexus smoothness) and the TC allowed the car to change gears quicker and I guess somewhat more harsh giving better performance compared to stock. FTR, my dad had a 98 GS400 at the same time as me, and with all the upgrades I did to mine, I would pull considerably on his car every time.
The TC I had (it was from either L-tuned, TRD or RMM) shaved about a second off the 1/4 mile time by itself.
I'm not sure as to the long term effects of it, but mine was warranted since the Lexus dealer installed it for me, so it couldn't do much damage if any.
