i've talked to the salesman in my local dealership
he said the dealers around CA will mark up the car 10k for sure and will have only 18 cars in per year. that guy didn't seem to be joking. it's lucky to get the car at MSRP.....

How many Nissan dealerships in the US? I guess around 4-500, maybe.
Nissan is planning to sell 30,000 350Zs in North America for the first production year. There will be about 27,000 left for the US. Divide that up equally, each dealership will get 60-70 cars a year. It means big dealeships may get up to 100 cars a year, while small ones get 40 cars a year.
I may be wrong.

no way i'm gonna be paying over msrp for anything. with that many Z's in the US it should not be a problem getting one for lower the MSRP. IF you have to be the first on your block and didn't pre-order...I could see maybe you having to pay more. Personally, I am getting one of the first test drives up here and all their first shipment is not spoken for...it shouldn't be an issue.

I heard that the Nissan dealerships which mark up their cars will not get as many allocations as they would.
I agree, there is no point of paying over MSRP for a mass produced 2-seater. People who wanted it real bad have already ordered theirs (Pre-order 7000 cars). Wait a few months until 2003, there will be plenty of Zs at the dealerships.

plenty of supply, Nissan Z has been MIA for 7 years. There are authrozed pre-sale dealerships in the US, go there, those dealerships have made pre-arranged agreements not to sell over MSRP.
CA residents should always only pay MSRP, just cause that is where they hit land first.
If you were in redneck Kentucky and didn't know any better, I could see it happening.

Directly from a Nissan dealer, this is the '03 350Z Pricing Matrix:
$26,269 - 350Z 6MT
$28,249 - Enthusiast Model 6MT
$29,219 - Enthusiast Model 5AT (w/manual mode)
$30,429 - Performance Model 6MT
$33,179 - Touring Model 6MT
$31,589 - Touring Model 5AT (w/manual mode)
$34,079 - Track Model 6MT
$1,999 - DVD-based Navigation System
$569 - Side air bag and curtain airbag
$540 - Destination and Handling
I'm a bit confused on the pricing of the Touring Model 6MT and 5AT. I would think that the Auto version would cost more. That's how it states it on the sheet I have so that's what I reflected in this post!
