A 4.0 Cayman GT4RS!

any chance this actually comes out with roughly 500hp for $125k? i seriously doubt it will be that 'cheap.' I assume it will start bumping up near 200k. Anyone, have any actual insights into pricing?

Wolfpack it truly depends on what your willing to spend. It is my opinion there expensive to maintain say a Honda s2000 everyone has different budgets but for instants you buy one used that has carbon ceramics and their worn OUCH !!!!! compared to S2000 I get it, it's a Porsche. I could afford the car but upkeep, prices me out. I'm a I guy who would drive the hell out the thing and would track it so maintaining one Compared to S2000 !!!! Hope you see it now. That's why I have the S2000 I'm not sticker shock maintaining a weekend toy something brakes easy fix and won't take my life savings. Life is way too short not to enjoy the car. Again everyone's budget is different But would love to have one.

A 4.0 GT4RS with an actual GT engine is unlikely to happen. There is a BIG difference between the 3.8 in the GT4 (based on the regular 911S engine) and the 3.8 in the 991.1 GT3.
Just being pragmatic here. The GT4 is 385hp from a 'normal' 3.8. If they introduce an RS, it will have less than 430hp. I would put money on it. How do they get there? A powerpack kit or whatever it's called on the 991.1 911 got your 430hp like on the Carrera GTS. That could be fun and makes more sense.
The GT engine apparently cost quite a bit more than the 'regular' 3.8 engine. I just don't see Porsche doing it.
So, if they do a 981.2 GT4 or RS, it could have a modded up boxer 4 turbo, a 3.0L turbo engine from the 991.2 Carrera, a further tweaked normal 3.8, or a heavily detuned 3.8 or 4.0 GT engine (highly unlikely).
Porsche knows how to play the game and get suckers like me to keep trading up. They don't do that by offering big power or engine increases between model years.

Not a chance in hell. No insights other than watching what Porsche has done the last 20 years. Introduce a new model, tweak some stuff, add 20hp, and call it a day. Look at the RS models and the GT models the last couple generations. That is exactly what they do.

I have a good feeling the RS will come to fruition in lieu of a .2 GT4 this generation. Using the detuned 4.0 is the only way an na engine will remain in the car. There are no other NA engines in Porsche's line up and they will not do a bespoke engine or re up production of the 3.8 for a short vehicle run. I see the car coming in around the 440-450ish mark with a PDK trans (really hoping for manual). This being an RS or whatever they call it will not be restricted by the GT4 pricing as it is a completely new model. This will allow them to use the more expensive motor and re-price the car accordingly, guessing starting MSRP between 125-130ish mark.
if they don't do the RS the .2 GT4 will a 100% be a turbo motor whether it's the 4 or 6 pot is still in question.

One of my buddies (hardcore track junkie) has gone 987.1 S -> 987.2 S -> 981 GTS -> 981 GT4

I agree with you and as far as the PCCB's most I have seen for sale in person all have them spec which again would add to my ownership cost of changing them. LOL
