5-seater after my s2000?
I sold my s2000 a few months ago after owning from new for over 10 years. I don’t commute or track anymore. Im trying to figure out what 5-seater car to get as a backup to my wife’s SUV, which is our main family car. I was close to buying a Focus RS. Then a Civic SI. Then older M5. Then a Fit sport. Yes, all over the place. :) Then I realized I what I really want is an S2000 with 5 seats :) Fun to drive on the road, smallish, manual transmission, reliable, and cheap to maintain. If the Type R had 5 seats, I’d be done. I’m leaning most towards a new civic Si sedan. What do you think I should get? |
Are you really looking for 5 seats and do you mean 4 doors too?
|
Good clarification. Must have 5 seats and 4 doors. The kids still use car seats and booster seat |
VW GTI or if you live up north Golf R. 2018 Focus RS Nice too if you don’t mind the looks. |
Accord Sport 6-sp.

Ariel Atom 4.
Just kidding. The Civic Si seems be what you're looking for so I'd definitely go with that. |
Any BMW 328i with the normally aspirated straight-six (230ish hp) would be a pretty good car to drive. Not as reliable as a Civic Si but those engines are pretty good and the cars have depreciated fairly well now. A 2011-2013 (I think) model would be fine. Get it with the Sport package and you're set.

Civic Si seems the best option.
Though the FA5 (06-11) would be the closest thing for a 4 door/five seat S2000. |
Newer Honda accords arent bad ideas, I had an 07 accord with a v6 and manual and it wasnt bad, wont exactly be .... super jet fighter like, but they do respond to sway b ar and spring changes. I swapped mine out for TL-S sway bars and eibach springs and loved every second of it. the J motor was good.
