And when did a CL55 become a sports car?!
Are you really looking for a sports car or a sporty GT car?
Some of your choices don't really fit together.

1st, I want a car thats fairly reliable.... well reliable in this catagory of vehicle....
2nd, the car must hold it's value or at least not plummit years after purchase....
3rd, want to be able to get service as needed not having to drive to a neighboring state for such....
4th Car can not be a fortune to maintain
5th looking for exotic looks, great styling and performance.....

Have you considered a Maserati, you can easily pick up a very nice one in your price range. You can have an somewhat exotic looking car, brand exclusivity, and a Ferrari soundtrack. You even have a choice if you want a convertible or coupe.

Guess the best answer is that I do not need the absolute best handling sports car out there or the fastest 0-60... and so many Grand Touring type cars are fast enough. I guess my answer is I want a sports car or at the least a sporty like car and it can be a GT. I like the SL55, 2dr, with the right tire/rim package can look very sport like no doubt.... may not handle on a tight track like a P car or an elise but the car is by no means a slouch and on the highway going to pull on most cars it comes across. (Uhg just realized I wrore CL55) But may not be anyone's first "track day car" choice So I am open within boundaries if thats not a complete oxymoronic statement.... thanks again for your reply and input.
saw some people recomend a boxter, caymen, vette etc... just don't have those cars on the list. Rather a used 911 turbo, NSX, someone mentioned a Viper and thats another good thought in the right year and color combo of course.

Otherwise you're getting into dangerous poseur territory...
You want an exotic-looking car without exotic performance or exotic price.
If you get a 996 911 with a trick bodykit, you'll still be slower than a base BMW 135... which they'll take glee in demonstrating.
Go understated: For $50k you could get a very nice M5 or E55amg. Or in two years or so, could probably pick up an RS4 for that price.
Or just skip the sport aspect. Jaguar XKR would be a nice GT choice.
But you can't have it all. Or else you'd have to pay for it.
