6k miles - NSX inside front tires bald. who pays?
****** I just got a check from Acura for the full amount of the alignment and the tires ****** (scot who can't afford tires. )
Just thought I would see what you guys think before I go "postal" at the Acura dealer.
The local Acura dealer (Bobby Rahal Acura) did a state inspection on the car about 40 days ago at 5k miles and didn't notice the insides being nearly bald (as bald as they are i can't imagine this happening since the inspection). They are required to take one front wheel off to inspect brakes and also look at the tires.
I think it is more a "tow" issue, than -camber. The car is going in tomorrow but I am interested in some opinions on who should pay for my alignment and tires sinc I probably need two new tires. The outsides are nearly new. car has never been tracked, etc....
I say Acura pays for my alignment and buys me new tires since this car has never been touched and both tires are doing it, so it is not from hitting a pothole and knocking it out of alignment, etc.....

Acura should pay for the alignment at a minimum. For the tires, I would go for them paying for them- and settle on 50/50. I had alignment problems on the S2000 right after I got it and Honda was good with doing the alignment over.
If Honda tells you the car is within alignment, then not sure what you can do? Maybe you can say the tires are faulty?

I dunno. A friend of mine barely got 10k out of his factory set of S2000 tires. He doesn't track his car either. I can't see an NSX doing much better. Sounds somewhat normal to me.

Sounds like camber to me. You'd have to have a lot of toe-out to wear 1 inch on the inside like that. Either way, you might be able to make the arguement that the car was delivered with the alignment out of spec, assuming it is. I doubt that you will get 100% reimbursement on the tires. The suggestion of an alignment and 50/50 on the tires sounds pretty reasonable. You may have a hard time getting that.
