You're better off getting an AP1 now than an old-ass Z3, and then you can sell the AP1 when it's time and buy your 'perfect' AP2. In fact, the AP1 will absolutely hold more value over time than the Z3 also.

There's tons of Z3's out there, surly you can find a manual one if you look around. Del Sol is kind of cute and not many on the road. Both are long in the tooth for styling.

1. I've had 2 del sols, my favorite car for the money; one was a Vtec, bought it with 90k miles and put 160k on it running great, and someone totaled it.
2. I wanted another, but couldn't find a Vtec that wasn't hopped up.
3. I read this thread quickly, but I think I caught where it wsa an automatic: deal breaker for me.
4. I call the Vtec the perfect "poor man's" sports car. I loved the targa top, sure beats a softtop. Took me 45 seconds to put it in the trunk.

No the Del Sol B16 VTEC never came with automatic just
the 5 speed transmission...
I just found one with the B17A VTEC engine which loos like
a very clean swap and of course bout 10 more HP than the B16.
The B16 is totally stock..nice car!
The BMW I havent driven..ice car though.supposedly a great
handling car and 0-60 in 5.4!!
I'm enticed by 225lb.ft.at 3500rpms as opposed to having driven
an S for 3 years.
BUT!!
I have driven an automatic M3 and the thing was a dog...dont know if it
was the car or the tranny!

2. You're right about the non-Vtec, but the Vtec was quite fun in such a light car, but, then again, my other are was a Corolla, ha!
3. After my son took my del sol to college, and I bought another w/o the Vtec, he wouldn't even switch back with me for an occasion after driving the Vtec, literally! I created a Vtec monster at only a 1.6 engine with 160 hp.

I am surprised no one mentioned this but, the Del Sol drives like utter Sh!t. Seriously don't know how you can consider this car within the realm of even "sporty" vehicles.

For that price I'd get a S52 M roadster. Shouldn't be too hard to find for a decent car. Assuming OP is adamant about not getting an AP1, for reasons I do not understand.
