99 Passat GLS V6
I have a friend looking for a cheap car, and found a 99 Passat GLS V6. New water pump and timing belt recently. The car is clean and she is set to buy it after a mechanic gives it a once over.
Anyone know anything I should keep an eye out for?

Instrument clusters and window regulators are common failures. That is an interference engine so don't wait to change the timing belt.
I wouldn't recommend one to someone looking for a cheap car.

i work at a vw dealer.. these cars are headaches to own.
everyone that comes in needs 2 grand + in work.
chain tesioner gasket failures, catalytic converter failures, body control module failures ect. not a good choice for an economical car
