I didn't know there was a huge "turf battle" between Honda and Nissan, but then I don't swim in those circles, so... All 5/6 (depending on your perspective) of the major Japanese car companies have at least one star car, and each of those cars has plenty of popularity associated with it. They all also have sidekick cars in their past/current stable that people throw their lots in with (Silvia, CTR, FTO, etc.)

I betcha no Japan Vs Japan rivalry will match the old Ford VS Chevy spat, although Ford VS Chevy ain't as heated as it used to be even. My favorite rivalry story is about a guy who took a Fox-body GT and threw a Grand National engine in it. He took it to a massive Mustang show, and was blowing everyone away on the drag strip. People wanted to see what he had, and when he popped the hood, they were PISSED. That's more GM VS Ford, but...

But there's even hatin' within brands. What about all the 911 snobs who dissed the 944/928?

Why is there fighting amonst brands? Why do people argue on the internet? Why do people bash every car that isn't their own? Because people are stupid, that's why.

I'd say the Ford - Ferrari rivalry was pretty intense. Ford (and likely Ferrari) spent a good bit of money to raise the royal bird to the other.
