Alfa Giulia base model....
2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia (Quadrifoglio) First Test: Two outta three? - Motor Trend
This to me looks like a screaming deal. 0-60 in 5.1, good mileage, awesome interior and supposedly fun driving dynamics. Check out all the photos. Could be my next daily, and if I am afraid of reliability I could always lease. Dealer is a couple miles from me.

IMHO, a screaming deal followed by huge deprecation.
Too many in the demographic for a car like this remember Alfas, Fiats etc as fun, exciting, fragile and unreliable.
Crowded segment with a lot of well respected alternatives.

Completely agree. But if I just assume that it actually is more fun to drive than my Bimmer, and configured the way I like it comes in $6k less than I paid 3 years ago for my Bimmer, performs better than my Bimmer, and that also depreciated like a rock it aint so bad. Especially considering that I am measuring it against what I paid versus the Alfa's sticker price, which you could probably knock $2-$3 k off of.

I agree with you - lease it and drop it like it's hot after that...
The question is, what will lease rates be like? BMW and Mercedes offer great leases and Alfa will have to be very similar to get business from them.

I test drove a Ti last week. Really liked it, was quick enough, no complaints, I think it drives better than a 3 series and is more comfortable too.
Lease rate on the one I looked at was $525 per month for 12k miles, that was with $4k down. So it leases slightly higher than a 330xi but a lot less than a 340xi, but it's cheaper than a 330xi. Lease rate is about the same as decently equipped A4 quattro. Merc leases are about the same for a C300 4matic too (at least here they are).
My money would go to the Alfa.
Edit: Sticker on the one I got a lease rate for was $50,400.

Lease is the way to go on the Alfa. Might be worth the wait for the Stelvio instead. That is hot too!
I't going to be a while before we see great lease rates (FCA subsidized), but the sooner the better. The stock is not here yet to start promoting leases.

Alfa sold maybe 50 cars in the US in January? Hardly a large enough number for dealers to stock parts, etc. or even know now to service them. Probably serviced by the same places that sell the lame Fiats that fill the bottom places in satisfaction, quality, and test results.
The styling of the Giulia makes my knees weaken when I see one. Like a beautiful woman. I still wink at them and they wink back but I know they don't mean it. The Giulia would be great to date, but I'd not bring one home.

The additional of the Giulia has helped them tremendously. They only sold 108 cars in the USA in January.

Lease now, and buy in three years after the huge depreciation hit passes by. I think it will be a great car, but not quite as polished as the mainliners, which will hold it back. That said, it looks like a true driver's car, not a corporate Camry.
