oh god..
dad has a vette, mom used to have a ford taurus, friend just got a mustang, recently rented a chrysler sebring..

HATE all of them, ive had a 98 prelude and my 03 s2k, mom now has a toyota, which i have driven a few times.

everything is so.. "plasticy" in an american car, the vette has this problem the LEAST, but the s2k interior > vette interior (C5)
i got sick in the sebring from just driving it around, EVERYTHING was made from that leather looking plastic, it smelled like cheap plastic.. awful
ford taurus, was one of the worst cars my mom said she has ever had
friends ford mustang (02) looks ok from afar, but when get up and look at everything, everything feels and looks so cheap, plus none of the interior body panels fit properly or dont rattle and shake and move when you touch them (in the mustangs defense, it does have 130k miles on it) but i drove a 95 civic coupe with 200k+ miles on it the other day and was more impressed than i was in the mustang

and i like EURO cars!
LOTUS FTW lol
Bit of a price difference there, no?

I mean take C5 vette vs S2000. In 2000-01 the S2000 MSRPed at like what, 32k? vs 40k for a base C5. Even the C5 would hand an S2000 its ass. So while I'd agree the plastic-fantastic C5 wasn't really up to snuff with the rat leather S2000 in fit and finish, it's not exactly why people buy either of them.

Sure, a POS Sebring looks bad in comparison to a 40k BMW or Mercedes. Not exactly surprising when it costs less than half the price.

I don't think a six year old conversation about American cars holds water as American cars have improved so much. Closed.
