Wow, that was a neat story.
To tell you the truth.. it can be easiler than you think.
One time, my friend went to get a key re-made for his civic.. he went to the dealer parts counter, asked about getting a key made, they asked for the VIN. Didn't ask for ID, didn't ask to see the car, didn't ask for anything but the VIN. Kinda scary.
