Any S2000 Owners Trying The 4x4's Fun Factor?
 

No, not really. I've got a 2001 Tundra 4x4, but it's basically just for "utility" use. It's a great vehicle to have around, but the only real fun that I associate with the truck are the activities that it transports me and my gear to. It gets me and my boat to various steelhead fishing spots year-round. I gets me and my family up to the mountain and back for backcountry skiing in the winter or to remote camping destinations in the warmer weather. Plus it hauls plenty of stuff when needed (including loads of crap to the dump). All in all it's a great truck for my needs, but honestly driving the Tundra just makes me appreciate driving the S2000 that much more.

If I really just wanted to go play around in the dirt then I'd buy a dirt bike. I have a buddy with some land up in Washington and a few years back I spent a couple of days with him and his friends just playing around with the motorcycles in the dirt. It had been nearly 30 years since I had last done so and it was still just as much fun as it used to be when I was a kid. That's definitely my idea of fun in the dirt.

Since this pic, I've added about 10,000 lumens of lights (no light bars), a winch and a few other things. Just realized, I need to take an updated photo. Too bad they finished construction, that was a fun place to tool around.

While it's hard to beat the enjoyment found from working the upper reaches of the powerband, you don't exactly have to drive a S2000 like a total bat out of hell to enjoy it. (Unless it's just too hard for you to resist doing so.) Perhaps my favorite thing about the S is that it's a convertible. When my wife and I head out together in the car I do try to keep in mind that she isn't all that fond of spirited driving, but she does love riding around with the top down.

I had a ride in a Hummer years ago in the raw desert. It was great at going almost straight uphill forwards and backwards, and over rough terrain. Yet that was enough for me. I have no desire to own one. The Odyssey and the Pilot are great for hauling people or product. My love for driving the S won't die anytime too soon.

I've thought about a manual shift 2008 Porsche Cayenne to replace the rusting mazda5 manual. My problem is I'd want to pound on a 4x4 off road...where they are meant to be driven.

Out of curiosity, what exactly do you find to be fun about the Sequoia and the LX? Where is it that you're using them?

I've owned a Jeep (wrangler) and would do that again or a proper old school Land Rover... the large family hauler type SUV's aren't really 4x4's in my book...

I actually came from a older 4x4 Cherokee. Love off-roading almost more than I love the track but a true off-road 4x4 takes way more abuse on the trail than a track car. Even though it was more fun it costs me too much money always breaking stuff... So now the Cherokee sits and rots in the drive way and my S gets taken to the track!
