Ap2 lost to Rx-8 in Motor Trend 2004 Road test...Smh

RX8's just all need to be converted to better engines. Vette engines are good candidates, although there's probably some cheaper stuff you could throw in there. I wonder if the S50/S52 from the E36 M3 would fit in one and be an easy swap...

Former RX-8 and S2000 owner. Different cars, one is a 4 seater "coupe", one is a 2 seater roadster. RX-8 was very fun to drive, incredible handling, can fit 285 tires on the stock wheels without messing with fender rolling, huge 14" brake rotors, much quieter on the highway. S2000 was more exciting with the top down, louder, a bit faster in a straight line. Handling was similar with a slight edge to the S2000.
I got 17-18 MPG mixed driving in my RX-8 and about 23 in my S2000.

Very true..HORRIBLE mpg. I drove one for a while. Fun, but the S blows it out of the water in just about everything except in stuff like comfort level for long trips and such..

There were 3 or 4 Best Motoring shoot-outs that featured an S2k and an RX8 in the mix. S2k beat the RX8 in every one.

Well this is a flash back in time. I bought an RX8 new in 04, while I had my AP1. I sold it, eventually putting the money towards a trade to get an AP2. Fun to drive, and so comfortable, but like it has been said, the gas mileage is horrific, and so was the reliability for the 04 model. Lots of engines went POOF before 50k miles.
