If done right it could work. F1 cars are similar weight and make upwards of 900hp.
Obviously the Atom doesn't have that level of tech, but nevertheless, still possible.

I read this engine weighs just under 200 pounds, revs to 10k rpm, 500hp.

The Atom V8 will be piloted by people who come up w/ the cash &/or credit to purchase one.

Also, F1 cars spin the tires very heavily on launch. Even with that much rubber, they're a handful.

Didn't they already have an option for this?
Caterham already has a car like this and so does Radical and they seem be fine. Probably a little hard to drive because of the power but most people who buy them know what they are doing (or should).
