Did a search and didn't see this mentioned... Apparently Acura (plus some Accords and Odysseys) is having some catastrophic failures in their 4- and 5-speed auto trannys:

Wow, thanks for posting. My wife drives a 99 TL, so this makes me nervous. We're looking to trade it on an '03 MDX within the next year, so I am definitely going to check further into this.

I used to drive a '99 EX-V6 Accord. A couple months before I bought the S2000 I noticed that when the tranny got hot, it would slip gears when shifting. The tranny actually ended up blowing ON THE WAY to the Honda dealer to by my S2000. Ended up getting $11,000 for it instead of the $13,000 we were supposed to get because of this. When I used to frequent the Accord forums, I would read a lot about failing trannys in the V6's. All the V6 Auto Honda trannys are pretty damn weak. The TL/CL have the same problems.

Wow! Just read the article and the same thing that happened to that TL-S happened to my Accord.

it was a matter of time before this went more mainstream...

My wife's '98 Accord V-6 tranny went South (Not like the above story; it just got noisy) to the tune of $4,600 which luckily was covered under warranty. We then sold the car and it hasn't had any trouble since.

My g/f's dad drives a 2001 3.2TL with the 5-speed auto. I'll have to send him that link as a heads-up.
