I have been reading that sales are down on Hummers and other large Suvs. I have also read that Ford was gonna quit making the Excursion also. It seems the Big Suv party looks to be coming to an end. Do you guys think the Big Suv craze is heading toward extinction?? Do you think the small Luxury Suv is gonna be the new "Must have" product the auto industry is predicting it will be?

You mean like the MDX and RX300/330 have been since they came out about 4 years ago?

What I do think will become more popular is more "car-like" tall wagons. X3, Toyota Matrix, Scion, etc. Those types of vehicles.

Personally, as long as my need to carry things never overwhelms a relatively low to the ground sedan/wagon, that will be the most utility I'll ever have.

I hope so, I also want to know if woman in these excursions and expeditions know they are driving glorified F350 super duties-f150's...nothing makes me sicker then a 120lb woman who cannot drive operating a 7000lb truck

Depends on where you're talking about. In a "country" state like TX, big trucks and SUV's will never die.

Gas prices has a lot to do with it, I can't imagine what it costs to fill up an H2 in LA.

big suvs like escalde, qx56, armada, excursion, navigator..... I don't think they will ever die

some ppl just need the space in their car (big family, friends, trips)

GM is finally putting a turbo-diesel in the H2 that should be a mean machine. I'd buy one if the price was right, but it's have to be well below MSRP.

It seems to me very much like the early 70's again . Back then insurance and fuel prices killed the muscle car. Now it seems just fuel price alone is hurting the fuel guzzling large Suvs. Deja Vu?
The H2 is one I do not understand . To me it is just a fad. I do not care if it has a diesel or had a jet engine for speed. This thing reminds me what a bargain the S is and for that kinda of money one could get a used 911 or with a couple more dollars a used 911 Turbo!

The way I see it, not only are they bad for the environment take up too much space and cause hazards for small cars, they also fill the coffers of nations that are terrorist friendly. My aunt bought a GX 470 and about a month later was complaining about how bad her MPGs are. What did you expect it's 2 1/2 tons? it still irks me that US car makers are so out of touch they still think big V-8 cars are the wave of the future. While fun to look at and drive, they still get horrible MPG in the real world even with cylinder shut down. Look at those car reviews, the 300c isn't getting better than 15 MPG in their testing.
