Very cool, but how could he possibly have gotten that thing licensed for street use?

^ might be a novelty plate. i can hardly imaging them actually issuing that plate.

then again the rules are often slightly less strick when it comes to "classic" cars.

I didn't watch the video, but in Texas for instance, you can have virtually anything made legal for the street.

There is a "street car" shootout at the local drag strip and one year the thrid place car was a low 9 second Mustang, second place was a lower 9 second Integra, and first place was a 6 second "street" Camaro.

It breaks down like this. If it is a kit car or some low production hobby type thing, you can make it street legal by virtue of having headlamps, turn signals, seat belts, mirrors, etc. So an Ariel Atom, a dune buggy, a tube frame dragster, etc. can all be made street legal. Since they are not real production cars, emissions testing and all of that need not apply. They just have to pass visual safety inspections.

If it is a production car, it has to be legal for sale in the US (so importing a right-hand-drive whatever is off limits, but people usually just cheat and register it as a kit car or do a VIN swap to make it look like US spec car) and it has to pass emissions if applicable. Some counties in Texas have no emissions testing requirements so you can have a 2010 mustang with a bazillion horsepower and you will just have to pass safety inspection. But even in emissions counties, if the car is past a certain age there it only has to pass the safety inspection.

I'd imagine other states have similar rules and loopholes.

Is it just me, or do others think that camaro is ridiculous?

The blower looks like a skyscraper sticking out of the engine bay, towering over the top of the car.

They should have a plate that says "TWR O PWR"
