BMW M2 or GT4
I was thinking of purchasing a new car to me and was wondering what people thoughts would be. Purchase a brand new BMW M2 and keep my 07 S2K or sell my S2000 and get a used Porsche GT4. I figured the pricing would work out to be pretty close. Thoughts?

If I were not going have more than one passenger --- the Cayman GT4. No competition, for me.

Not really comparable at all, one is 40k more than the other and the M2 is a 4 seater. I'd take the GT4 if you can afford it AND it's for a weekend/track car not a daily. Unless you can get 40K for your 07 S2000 I don't think you'd be close. M2 is mid 50's, GT4 is mid 90's to 115.

The better investment is the GT4; you'll need to drive both and see which one does it for you.

OP, are you weighing your location into the equation?

Got an offer a year ago for my S2K for $29K but passed so I figured it would fetch somewhere close to that now. 07 GPW with 19K on the clock. I would spec my M2 out with MPerformance products which would bring the cost of the car to around 67K (exhaust and tips cost $4.5K with no performance gain, yikes) and I would find a used GT4 around 100K which would make it price wise in the same ball park. GT4 would be a daily but I don't drive a lot as I travel for work and UBER to the airport plus if I need to carry people around I switch cars with my GF. I live in LA now and not Boston so the car would be used year round.
Hard to find someone that would let me drive their GT4.
M2 would be a more practical car to get while keeping my beloved S2K but a Porsche GT has always been on my wish list.
Other thing to consider is one less parking spot and one less insurance.

If your in LA i would be willing to let you drive my Cayman GT4 however my schedule is a bit hectic these next few weeks as im currently in Jury Duty and work evenings.
As for the BMW M2 I dislike just about everything about it (Weight, Size, Appearance and Price) but thats probably because BMW has left a sour taste in my mouth after my last ownership experience.

Hey Blueprint, yep I live in Santa Monica. I would love to drive your GT4, just PM when you would be free.
I do think they could have saved some weight on the M2 but overall I think it's better than an M4.

I'll let you know when im free... This criminal trial is taking way to much of my time lately.
I have plenty of friends that daily drive their GT4's. I personally don't however because of our horrible traffic and i have a daily driver.
I would take an F80 M3 over an M2 personally. It's way more practical.
