Default Business Insider's 2016 Car of the Year

At Business Insider, we don't have extensively scientific criteria for selecting what we feel were the best cars of 2016 — we currently lack the testing facilities for anything like that. But we do consider each finalist in terms of three important questions: Was the vehicle compelling to drive? Did it stand apart from the competition? And did it involve a strong business case for the automaker that created it?

Car of the Year
  • Spoiler

5 runners-up
  • Ferrari 488 GTB
  • Audi A4
  • McLaren 570S
  • Jaguar F-PACE
  • Cadillac CT6

No problem. I didn't it see posted. Thought some of us might enjoy it.

I'm starting to think the car might be better than some initially expected. I had a chance to see one at an auto show last month. Looked pretty good in person.

I mean the car is great, it better be for its price and the time it took to develop. Did it change the landscape? I dunno, is it a world beater? No. Will be exotic performance for honda cost of operation? We'll see but time will tell. Cool car as it should be but for me it doesn't have the same impact the first one did. But cool car and I could understand it winning an car award from a business Magazine.

Their last criteria was not met. Honda didn't have a strong business case for the NSX 2.0! They already put this drive train into the RLX and that car is also a flop.

how does the a4 make the list either? It's been largely unchanged.

Maybe I missed something but the TT V6 and the 9 speed DSG are bespoke for the NSX, so how is this drivetrain in the RLX?

You're right. They have 2 extra gears and the turbo'd v6. However the hybrid technology was released in 2015 with the hybrid SH-AWD RLX. Instead they flipped the placement. Electric motors driving the rear wheels. There is also re-use of parts with lower level models. Steering wheel and gear selector are straight out of their parts bin, you can find them less the carbon on the TLX.
