Default C8 ZR1 will be midengine!

If this comes true, it will be a bombshell. Talk about changing the American muscle car game completely... Just wow.

I have a hard time believing it - massive break in tradition, completely new (bespoke) platform, etc, etc. It'd end up costing way more and they'd be fighting with Porsche (and others) on price rather than performance bargain. That's never been Chevy's way.

I'd love to be proven wrong, though!

I'll bet anyone on this forum $100 right now that this will not happen. As far back as Vettes go there has always been talk of mid engine Vettes and rotary Vettes and Vettes and bees and Vettes with bees in their mouths and when they bark bees come out. I don't believe it for a second. Here 'a why: the Vette works as is. The top-of-the-foodchain Vette has always beaten the crap out of everything even remotely within its price range all the way up to cars five times its price range, with an FR configuration, so there's no reason to believe that they'd ever need to make the switch for performance reasons. So why risk pissing all over 50+ years of tradition and add complexity and cost?

The only thing they'd gain that couldn't be gained by just making a better version of the current configuration would be novelty.

It just doesn't make any sense.

Also, OP, the only thing remotely muscle car-like about the Corvette is its engine. It is not a muscle car in any fashion.

It would seem more likely they keep the vette the same and come out with a zora model more the likes of it's Italian competitors.

IF it happens, it's only one half-century overdue.

Will the ergonomics be compromised?

i call BS on that too..... but.... with a 50/50 weight distribution due to the engine being back so far (the S2000 has it too) isn't that a lame version of Mid Engine?
