Cadillac ATS-V wants to kill BMW M3/M4

Side view looks kinda boring. Maybe more fender flares? Front and rear pretty decent. But 18 in wheels only?
But it sounds like it's right there with its BMW rivals if not better in performance.

Love the specs. Looks too big (as do the M3 and M4). Still a decent looking car. Needs 19s, at least, for this market - I'd imagine they'll be available.
8-spd auto will be the same as the C7, I would imagine, which means it should (on paper) be pretty darn good!

Ugly? I kinda liked the ATS when it came out just a little bit, but that styling has been the same for Caddy since the CTS was in the first Bad Boys movie 20 years ago. Some designs age better than others but the flat and creased styling has worn on me. Jag is going a new direction with styling, maybe it is time for Caddy.

They've been trying to "Kill" the M3 for the past decade, but the Germans always remain 1-2 steps ahead of everyone else (Japanese included). I don't expect this car to be any different. That said, when taken in isolation, I expect this to be a great car - just not quite on M3 level.
For those of you about to step in and say "Yeah, but 0-60!!"... Remember, drag strip numbers does not a sports car make.

I was kind of intrigued by what Road and Track said in their Performance Car of the Year shootout about the M3/4 and that it might be a better car on the track with 150 ftlbs less torque and all of the drivers had spooky moments in the car.
I am not sure how far we are from all cars either all having too much power for the street or so many nannies they drive like GTR's. Even my puny armed S2000 at a little over 300 to the wheels won't let me wind out third without looking at a serious ticket. I remember the fun of winding out four gears in a weak Prelude when I was a teen, now you can hardly get through second before the cops interest is piqued.

Don't think it will kill the M3. The balance on the M3 is awesome and the M3 is way under rated, they dyno about 420 whp and wtq which is close to 480 at the crank for both. Plus the DCT is probably better than the 8 speed slush box.

They should a went LT1 and that's all I am going to say about that. 3.6L Twin Turbo to get to 455hp or 6.2L NA v8? Come on caddy, don't be a follower, it probably weighs more too.

Not to refute you, but I wonder what kind of pricing and engine size concerns went into play into choosing this V6 over a V8.
