I believe the newer V12 introduced on the Vanquish (used on db9 and rapide) is not exactly that engine you mention. The engines are made in Germany FWIW.

Picking between beautiful Aston Martins or the ugliest Ferraris in recent memory....AM all the way.

If you're gonna spring for a Ferrari you're gonna want it to look good.

Wow and I rather like the look of the 612! The biggest concern is that the Ferrari won't age as well as the Aston. I go to C&C, and car shows all the time. Sometimes at the local AM dealer (which 25% of service work is Ferrari) and virtually all the 10+ year Ferrari's just look worn out compared to the Aston's.

I would expect some high maintenance costs with a 612

I have always enjoyed the clean, elegant look of the car but it has been surprisingly polarizing (lots of folks dump on it)

if the Rapide can be had at the right price, I would find that intruguing due to the rarity of the car

Plus when chauffeuring your canine there would be no indignity related to crawling in and out of the back seat (maybe it will be heated too for a more cozy ride)

Agreed on all points. If it's just me and dog, she sits in the front seat. It's all three of us, at least in Rapide, anyone in back seat is not going to be too uncomfortable. Our dog starts showing the teeth if she sits in the back too long and we can swap for to be in the front some too.

Have Ferrari FF come down into price range yet?

The lowest honest FF's I see are above 140K.

I don't think either the DB9 or California have usable backseats, they're more for the insurance deduction (if there is on those) like most +2's.

I'd pick the California over the DB9, especially dollar for dollar. The interior is a lot nicer in the Ferrari IMHO, plus newer tech. The Astons all suffer from dated interiors to me.

The 612 hasn't aged well to me. There's a reason they're "cheap".
