California vs DB9

What are your thoughts on the DB11? By the time I am ready for another car (another 2 years) the DB11 would be a more likely purchase than a DB9.
I am curious to see how my buddy's California fares with repair costs. He does not have a warranty on it, but was bought from a Ferrari dealer.

Ferraris in general are just plain expensive to run regarding actual running cost and in the depreciation you take on those things. Not saying Astons are cheaper to run, because they aren't, but Ferraris are just ridiculous.
I mean yeah I get it, wasn't built for budgets like mine, but honestly, theyre just ridiculous from principle standpoint. And the California I'd say isn't an investment grade car yet, I dunno, if I had that kind of money, I'd rather just custom build some crazy car, ala Eleanor, Singer, and a myriad of other companies that do that these days.

There is no vehicle make I like better than Ferrari, I love almost all of their models, and the California is drop dead gorgeous to me.
A while back I read a review a fellow S2000 owner posted about his Ferrari ownership experience. The amount of money he sunk into repairs was absolutely horrendous, it was terribly unreliable, and each individual repair cost was astronomical. Buying a Ferrari is one thing, owing and maintaining one is a whole different ball game. If money is no object I'd get the Ferrari as long as you accept the potential repair costs, maybe the thrill of driving it outweighs the highway robbery that happens whenever you need to visit the dealer / repair shops.

The DB9 for me. The California is just a nice looking car.

Ditto. I've always found the California a bit "meh" in the looks department. The Aston Martin looks a million times better to me.

That's what I thought too until I drove it! Wow was the California a car to drive. DB9 is a little more substantial in build quality and details. California was such a big jump in every category from his GranSport which I also liked.
I'm still leaning towards a DB9 if I had to choose between the two, but the decision is even harder. I am curious to see how my friend makes out. One like clear reflector (there about a dozen in head lamp) popped out. Sealed unit that looks to be 2k+ new. His fun begins.
