Default Camaro SS vs Mustang GT Track

Camaro is 250lbs heavier and they have nearly identical 1/4 mile times.... around Streets of Willow the Camaro is 3 seconds faster! damn!

Chevy has definately figured out the handling / braking business with this car!

tires probably have a lot to do with it

same problem the new viper had with the ZR1. corsas < MPSC

My guess these new Goodyear G2 is a faster tire. It was designed specifically for the ZL1.

With this relatively new phenomenon of OEM's getting specially crafted tires for their cars it's making it harder and harder to compare one car to another.

edit: apparently prost remaked that the camaro's tires took a while to warm up and until then weren't very sticky. That's more evidence that the tire compound is more akin to a racing tire than a street tire.

The 1LE definitely has a tire advantage over the Mustang. 285 square for the Camaro and 255 for the Mustang, with the better rubber on the Camaro. Not really surprised by the result.

1LE is faster than a Boss 302 as well, but try fitting in one with your helmet on. I know I couldn't.

I had a 2003 GT Premium 5spd that I bought new for about $20k. My '11 5.0 Premium was $34k.

I think the '15 models will get a price bump but I'm hoping to be around $36-40k for Premium trim with some options.

You can get them for a lot cheaper than that. A base model can be had for under $30k. A non-premium car with track pack goodies runs around 30k.
