3 seconds faster than the official time of the C6 ZR1 too. What a machine. May need to pick one of these up for track day fun when they discount them about a year from now.

I love the look of the car, though. What a beast! I'd settle for a Camaro 1LE but the ZL1 is just another class altogether.

On one hand I am kinda impressed, but on the other hand the daily new records at the ring got kind of boring long ago and mean nothing to me. They stuffed 650 horsepower into it, I should hope it would be fast.
I am more impressed that GM offers a capable car with that much power for $70k than I am with what benchmark it sets at the Ring. Ring times have become background noise to me.
But if Chevrolet really wanted to impress me or make me want that car, they would have to take into account that every minute I spend in it I would have a full view of that interior and hideous steering wheel. I'd give it an extra two points on a scale of one to ten if they just put the Corvette wheel into it instead of that current ghastly thing.
I think I am in a mood today.

Yeah, vader, you must be PMS'ing. The view out of the Camaro isn't awesome, but it works and it actually gives the car a bit of a bunker feel cruising around town, like you're zipping through traffic in a sort of a sniper nest or something. haha. The interior fitment isn't great, but the quality is actually okay and everything works well. It's pretty stylish too. The wheel doesn't bother me either. The car just drives great.
Have you driven an SS or better new Camaro? If not, I'd recommend a solid 20 minute drive with free reign to thrash it a bit. It really drives incredibly well and feels light on it's feet with great engine sound, supple mag suspension, great turn-in, etc. Never ever thought I'd like a Camaro at all when the Vette is available, but the 6th gen changed that for me.

I see it hit 171 mph on the final long straight. Definitely paying a price for all the extra downforce! Supposedly it will do 198 mph in standard ZL1 form but it was barely accelerating by the end of that straight...

The idea that domestics can't handle is a distant memory at this point.

Chevy said, "this aint gonna work unless we tidy things up a bit and it could be great". Dodge just keeps trying to stuff more power into a huge car that can't go around corners as is. You can buy a car that will light up tires all day long, or you can buy a car that will light up tires all day long, be a total beast at the track, and cost less. I think they just stole all the Demon's thunder.
