This car has a better shifter than the S2000

The clutch and shifter in the Vantage V8 is quite rewarding. Great linkage and positive throws. Clutch catches quick with stiffer than expected pedal feel. Not as on/off as a Porsche clutch.

Off topic. But, the most responsive transmission in my experience, are motorcycles. Esp dirt bikes. You don't have time to think about shifting. Barely enough to react. Good bikes are like a reflex. I don't even remember shifting.

I think the Miata come close, speaking of M cars, I have an M4 and have to say the shifter is annoying as hell, rubbery with long throws and no feel, test drove a 991 C4S and the shifter doesn't even come close to the S2000, the gearbox in the S is truly special.

I'm toying with the idea of selling the S2K, pocketing some money and buying a cheaper vert. But damn I'm really going to miss the shifter in my car, it's amazing.

The shifters for the 3rd gen Acura Integra GS-R, the S2000 and the NSX have been continually proclaimed by multiple reviewers of all the largest magazines in the world (before the age of internet reviewers) and by many professional race car drivers as the smoothest of any production car made.

PS. We also have the best headlights of any production car made. (along with the 3rd gen Acura TL)

New ATSV is pretty damn fantastic, BMW 135/335 as well. Both of those are the super smooth, high snap in type of shifters though. I do MT dev/val for a living so it's all pretty subjective. S2K is fantastic for a sports car shift though; one of the largest differences is that it is direct mounted vs indirect. It is near impossible to re-create the S2K shifter without it being direct mount.

S2K shifter is great, probably one of the best I have ever tried, that said most Honda boxes are pretty damn decent, some of the FWD boxes are damn near bullet proof too. In comparison, my t56-mag with an ultimate street short shifter feels like a gun or artillery piece. Extremely firm and 'sure' action but I will need to get it on the road first before properly comparing them. They also fit quite nicely where the S2K tranny used to go
