Car Insurance Cost ?

I’m 19 and just insured my s2000 under my own name for a whopping 300$ a month for full coverage with one speeding ticket ( 3 over asshole cop ) and one accident ( old lady distracted by her dog slammed on brakes) ... I know most of you guys are older and pay like 50 a month lol but anyways just wanted to know what you guys are paying a month/year to insure your car ??

31, single, no accidents/tickets, Arizona, excellent credit, Geico
100/300/100 liability
S2000 - comp/collision, no glass, $2.5k deductible - $42.50/mo
Civic Si - comp, no glass, $1k deductible - $34.50/mo

I should just drop collision on the S2000

39, married, no accidents or tickets in 10 years, credit is not considered here in Canada, ICBC

$287/month for two vehicles, full coverage, $1M liability, etc, etc, $500 deductible

Yes, British Columbia insurance is ridiculously expensive and poorly managed. Government-run insurance monopoly = bad idea.

Back in Alberta, I was paying $165/month for the same vehicles AND a third vehicle stored outside in my driveway (higher cost).

49, married, no tickets no accidents.

$350 (~$55 a month) every six month full coverage low deductible on the Porsche Cayman, State Farm
$385 (~$65 a month) for the same on the BMW.

The Porsche is faster and more expensive, but insured as a second car and limited to 7,000 miles or less, and the BMW is higher because it is the primary insured vehicle and unlimited miles.

At your age if it was $300 a month insurance to drive a nice car, I would drive a penalty box until my record cleared and then upgrade. Too many things you can put money into at that age that will pay off HUGE down the road like education, a roth IRA, saving for a home down payment, etc, that a car is not one and will only hinder the others.

The equivalent of $US300 per year, full cover. 45 years old, no recent accidents, no recent speeding tickets. I'm also paying a little less than that on a 2013 Nissan Leaf, and less again on a 2004 Nissan Stagea. This covers damage to any and all vehicles and property involved in an accident, plus up to $US1.5M public liability.

Our personal injury insurance is provided separately by a government body, which costs me about $1,150 per year to cover my whole family (since I'm the only one working).

Listen to this dude and max out a Roth starting now since you probably don't have access to a 401k and are probably not eligible for HSA contribution. Avoid debt like the plague. I didn't figure this out until my mid-twenties, it hurts, but not as bad as most of my peers that are under water.

How does the 100/300/100 work?

What is the coverage limit of the personal injury insurance?

Over here, basic third party liability is $200,000 but most people buy $1, 2 or $3 Million.

It's quite interesting how different places have different coverages/options/prices! British Columbia, Canada has probably the most expensive car insurance. The shitty thing is we need coverage for each vehicle and cannot insure a secondary vehicle as a "weekend" only car under the same policy.

As far as I know there's no limit. Every earner in NZ pays a levy of 1.21% on every dollar of employment income up to a threshold of about $US80,000, which goes to a government entity (Accident Compensation Corporation), as well as a certain portion of annual vehicle licencing and so on. This means there's a pool of about $US27B to cover any injury sustained by NZers in an accident, on a no-fault basis, or about $US5.5M each

While this is great in general, I've head of people being paid out for things like injuries sustained while escaping from prison. Either way it means there is no right to sue here, everyone is guaranteed injury coverage, and if necessary a benefit payment for however long it is required. On balance it's a very good system.
