Car Rec: $20k, 4 real seats, 3 pedals
I’m going to upgrade my bad weather car by sometime next fall. I’m making a list of what to test drive over the next 6 months. The “real” rear seats eliminate 911 and BRZ. I’m generally not a fan of forced induction but maybe should look at some of the “rally” cars.
E39 M5
E46 M3
E9x M3
Camaro SS (this is a little above budget)
RX-8
Mini Cooper JCW
CTS-V
EVO
STI
RS4
What else to add to the list?

Bad weather = snow/ice or just rain?
If snow/ice I'd get something AWD. Do you want to deal with fixing things and doing maintenance all the time? If not I'd skip all the older M cars.
RX-8 rear seats aren't much better than a 911 or BRZ, same with Mini JCW.

The Camaro SS should come off. It's not a $20k car and the rear seats are only suitable for dogs and amputees. The BMW's are good if you like spending time in the garage, and might as well add the 1/2/335i models to the list.. The CTS-V and RS4 won't be $20k either.. That leaves you with:
RX-8 - Oil burner
Mini JCW - Worse reliability than BMWs
STI - Ringlands
EVO - 9 would be my choice
WRX - FA20 is better than the EJ
S4 - High $20k
If it were me, I'd go for a low mile 335i or S4 and get to know your local independent mechanic..
