Not heard of this in the Porsche realm... cant say for the others. Porsche is on the 3rd generation of CCB and i've heard issues early on with the first and second gens.

I'm thinking that carbon rotors are only going to fall in price too. The high cost is due to low volume but that won't last for long. I like everything about carbon right now less the high up front cost and large replacement.

Maybe? But carbon ceramic rotors have been available on most Porsches for 10+ years at this point.

As much as we like Porsche, they are not producing enough cars to drive the price lower. When folks like GM and Ford start offering them on more mainstream models the price will drop.

I don't see carbon ceramics coming down any time soon the process to make them is timely, YouTube it, it's pretty neat how it's done but people need to get paid and I don't see the middle class spec a $8000 to 10,000 brake option on a sports car they can barely afford it does not make sense. There were reports that they where going to mass produce CC's but that was 5 years ago and the price has come down half but it's still too high for the masses.

I cannot speak to timeline but carbon isn't that difficult to use and it will come down, just like it has elsewhere.

It's been at least 15 years and they have come down to half of what they where then, which was around 15,000 to 20,000 they are for most give or take a 8,000 to 10,000 option now. As for timeline it's not looking too good, and as for carbon fiber coming down maybe wet carbon but Dry carbon is still very very High, if you have a source for cheap dry carbon S2000 parts please do share. LOL

as industry goes, 15 years and halving the price over that timeline does suggest a rapid drop in cost. You're seeing the same thing with carbon wheels.

If in 15 years it's 20% of the cost it was today it would be very impressive. That's the kind of trend line we're on.
