Class action suits are designed to punish corporations. Stick it to the man... sort of thing. I have tracked my C7Z and it only runs too hot with specific conditions (high ambient temp, track that utilizes a lot of high RPM, extended sessions, etc). Most users would never touch its capabilities or experience overheating, even at the track on a hot day.

Sounds like the "specific conditions" are the norm for on track use, unless you are on a pace lap or low key HPDE session.

You can run the snot out of it in cool weather without issue in terms of the oil and coolant temps (or on a course where you aren't sustaining high rpm). The automatic transmission overheating, power steering system overheating and intercooler pump cavitation/shut down are honestly bigger issues! Did I mention I should have stuck with my C6Z? This is not the car to buy for real track use if you want to go 10/10ths. It is fantastic as a street car, grand touring machine, daily driver, light track use... It will put down seriously fast lap times when it isn't running too hot, but forget about endurance racing. The whole chassis gets hot at the track. The entire car feels heat-soaked. My C6Z could run for 2-3x as long at the track in the heat before the temps started to climb too high.

Seriously what kind of HPDEs are you used to?

Although I like the C6Z the valve guide issue scares me from getting one. The issue is probably overblown, but it still exists. I know of 3 owners with experience, one popped the engine, one got lucky and did preventative head work to fix, and the other sold his Z cause he was scared of it. Even some of the LS9 have suffered the valve guide issue.

Plus, doing Head work is a longshot over replacing springs on a C5Z.

For now I'll stick to my LS6.

Yeah, but it's not hard to fix. It'll cost you a couple grand, but it's not that big of a deal. I think about getting rid of my C5 Z06 and getting a C6 Z06 practically every single day. I prefer the styling of the C5 but me wantee LS7.
