Looks the part and can back it up with the performance. What's not hyper about it? The fact it's Chinese?

I'm leaning towards the side of skepticism. I can't imagine the size of the battery pack you'd need - and what that battery pack would have to weigh.
I mean, Teslas have a range of like 200-300 miles of normal driving, is it really hard to believe an electric car could complete one 13 mile lap at full speed?

Fair point... I kinda went on a tangent thinking of hybrids depleting their battery at the track.

For a pure electric, it's more a question of whether it can complete a continuous lap at full boil without going into a heat management "limp mode". How many ludicrous speed launches can a tesla do before it needs to cool? I've heard 5 or so? Less than 10? 13 miles at the ring is like launching over and over and over.

It is quite valid to ask whether the car really drove a single lap in the time indicated, or had segment times recorded to calculate a theoretical best lap.

The Tesla Model S can't even complete a single lap around VIR without going into limp mode.

Well, I finally watched the video JonBoy posted above, and it looks totally legit. That thing is absolutely flying. And that driver has giant cojones.
