This is what most s2000/miata owners feel when test driving a corvette. The car just feels big and soft regardless of how well it performs. But I don't think that corvette owners get the same feeling from going from a C to a S. They may after spending significant time with a S and going back to a corvette, but it would take taim.
Driving different cars has a weird affect on people. People get accustomed to a car they drive for a while, regardless of what it is. Some people get used to the noise level and harshness in a s2000 and feel like they are driving a cadillac when test driving an accord.

Having spent time in the S, a C6 Z51 and a '93 Miata, I would say the Miata was the most alive but also was the most flexy and slowest. The Corvette was at the other end and the S was in the center. It was like anything the S did better than the Vette, the Miata did better than the S (generally driver feedback and lively feeling). Anything that the S did better than the Miata the Vette did better than the S (More speed. more grip, more power). Oddly enough the price puts the S in the middle.
In conclusion, the S is the perfect compromise between a Miata and a Vette.
