Considering dropping my C6 for an 08 STI
So I'm thinking of getting rid of my C6 and I've spotted a used 08 STI that's perfect and is selling for 26K.
I rememeber a lot of people bashing the new STI but can't really remember why. Anyone want to refresh my memory?
Also, the WRX is now getting close in terms of power but does anyone really know how much tamer the handling characteristics are? I know I can get a WRX to make STI power but I doubt I'd ever get it to handle the same. A lot of people have suggested that it would be stupid to get an STI now that the WRX has more power. I would tend to dissagree but am curious what you all think.

I'd ignore the wrx versus STI arguments, those type of comparisons come up when the latest top of the line 3 series makes similar HP to the current, outgoing m3 of the time but they always feel a lot different. get what you like IMO.

Bought it used and have had one small issue after another. Bottom line I just don't love the car and on top of that I don't really trust it.
To add to all that, my company is now in chapter 11 and though I don't necessarily foresee losing my job, moving to a more affordable car just doesn

I bought my 08 STI a month ago and no regrets for me. I looked briefly at a C6, among others, before i made my decision. The C6 is a great car but it sounds like you know what you are doing.
All i have to say is people will hate, but at the end of the day few cars are as practical and as fast as the STI for that price. You don't have to sacrifice space for a good suspension and acceleration. Its the best of all worlds.

well if it is more beneficial for you to exhange the cars then go for it, and if its giving you problems and you simply dont love the car anymore i can understand that. In that case give the STI a ride and see how you feel.

There's a decent video of Top Gear testing the STi and the EVO X on youtube. Check it out.
In no way am I implying Top Gear is the defacto standard be-all end-all of car reviews.
