Create a Car Talk Subforum?
#12
I hope I don't miss the creation of this sub forum because I enjoy those threads more than threads linking to auto blogs that just repeat specs and reviews I can read in magazines.
I personally think its a great topic for car talk... You end up learning about all kinds of cars and I think thats interesting read for any car person/enthusiast.

its one thing if some one whats to know what people think of a car that they are looking at, but then you get people that are looking for a friend of a friend in 4 years. Those are the ones that get kinda old IMOP.

This is already a great thread!
I think those types of threads are usually fine in Car Talk. The only ones that get me irritated are the ones where after 20 or 30 posts, the OP admits he'll be making a decision in 2 years, not this year, which means a huge chunk of the info could be out of date, etc.

I disagree with you.
For one, I don't think they "have pretty much taken over this section."
For another, I think they're interesting threads (conditional on the cars being discussed) because they foster interesting discussion about using the cars, and their relative value - not just, say, a dry repetition of stats.

Dumping stuff in a subforum can have the unintended effect of stifling discussion.
I say keep them here.

Keep it as is, just everyone play nice w/ descriptive thread labeling, and don't click on the ones that don't interest you. There's no requirement to read every thread here!
If not for these threads, volume would plumment, b/c every semi-interesting car has already been covered over and over and over...
