Dad picked up '10 Genesis V8
My dad traded his '09 Sonata for a brand new titanium gray/ebony '10 Genesis V8 and I just drove it for about 30 minutes. He paid about $37k for it (sticker was $44k). Had the tech package, so had all the tech gizmos you could imagine except night vision (not avaiable on the Genesis). Adaptive cruise control, electric brake (so you can take your foot off the brake at stoplights), Nav with a 9" high resolution screen, adaptive HID headlights, cooled/heated seats, butter smooth leather, power everything, and the 17 speaker Lexicon stereo.
The 375hp Tau V8 and the ZF six-speed automatic are just an incredible powertrain combo. Engine was smooth, quiet, and powerful. Shifts were perfect and butter-smooth. The suspension in the V8 car is a bit stiffer than the V6 car, but the ride is well damped. Overall, the car really feels like a 98% LS460 Lexus, but a bit more sporty and $20k (or more) less.
I just can't believe how refined, smooth and substantial this car feels for a Hyundai. It honestly feels as nice to drive as my buddy's LS460 Lexus. Toyota/Honda and the other major manufacturer's have to be concerned right now about Hyundai between this Genesis, the new Sonata, what other cars are coming down the pipeline
Anyone in the market for a mid-high $30's luxury/sport sedan would just be absolutely nuts not to check this car out. My dad did spend quite a while (a few months) negotiating his deal as his '09 Sonata was damaged and he pocketed the insurance money, so he had to work a good trade number in too. Overall, he made out like a bandit, but it took him some time.

Hyundai is no longer the joke they once were. The Genesis sedan / coupe and the new Sonata are very nicely styled cars with thoroughly modern powertrains. Happy motoring to your dad.

Just read a good review then noticed it was written by QUIKAG ... Immediately I realized this car must truly be THAT GOOD! Great review by someone who knows High End, and whose posts are fair and insightful. A relevant Hi End Hyundai .. Who would-a-thought. Thanks for the heads up.

I still haven't driven the Genesis Sedan. Saw a white one today (they're rare as hens teeth in East Texas) and it looked good.

i just keep trying to find things i dislike on it... and i cant... all i can say is that its tough for me to pay 40k on the first year of anything, especially a hyundai sports car... but hopefully its a fantastic car for your dad... for now, im jealous

i test drove the Genesis sedan with Tech Pkg also, and i was blown away. i really like the sonata SE, i wanna test drive that too. i hear the Equus is quite a ride as well.
btw, how did u get $6k off a 2010 genesis 4.6? that's over $3000 below invoice..? plz let me know, i might buy one at that price. (V6 model w/ tech pkg)
