Dad picked up '10 Genesis V8

Imo the Genesis is simply the best car you can get in the $30-44k price range if you want a nice sedan for cruising and long trips. It certainly blows away high-end Camrys, Accords, Avalons and Maximas on the low end, the ES, GS, G, CTS in the middle, and holds up nicely as a value play against cars costing way more like the 7 Series, E Class, M, LS, etc.
For the money, you can't beat the warranty and value o what you get.

My S2000 06' lease ran out in December. Wife had problems getting into the S (she has MS) so time had come regretfully to get a sedan (had an S since 2000 and loved it).
After a month of checking different sedans in the end I got a 2010 Genesis Sedan 4.6 with Tech. Absolutely love it. Adaptive cruise control becomes addictive when cruising (set the speed and keep your foot off the pedals - car adjusts itself to speed of car ahead - amazing the first time the vehicle ahead slows down to turn and your car slows down by itself.
Is very fast, smooth, quiet except has nice v8 sound when you step on it, and amazing sound system (only other vehicle with the 17 speaker Lexicon is a Rolls Phaeton). Miss the ragtop (but does have sunroof). Gas milage is 27 or so on interstate but I average in mixed driving 19-20. 385 hp, 333 lbs. torque.
Reminds me of an S in that it is two cars in one. For the S the peaceful drive around car with no Vtech and the other is the adrenaline producing country road racer. For the genesis it is also the quiet, drive peacefully car or the hit it and enjoy the almost scary speed, flat cornering and nice handling. Both cars, after a hard run, idle like nothing happened. Both are fun (but the S is more fun). The sound system on the Genesis is absolutely awesome.
My deal was a lease - 39k with nothing down, no payments for 30 days, zero dollars out the door; $650month including 9% Pa. lease tax. No termination fee. 15k miles a month 36 months. Very nice local dealer, 6k miles so far and zero problems. Very pleased. Really hurt to turn in the S at the end of my lease.

QUIKAG, glad your dad made a decent decision.
I bought an '09 Genesis V8 myself 3 weeks ago, and couldn't be happier with my purchase.
I wish I could've gotten the '10 w/ the additional features and updates, but the dealer had none, and the awesome deal on an '09 was hard to pass.
So far I LOVE the ride w/ all the tech gizmos and especially the Lexicon sound system.
I've spent quite a bit of money in the past upgrading the sound system on many of my cars, but this stock Lex system is very impressive.
Clarity, tonal balance is just right.
In short, one could definitely tell that Hyundai put so much effort into this car. No wonder the competitors are starting to fear Hyundai as a company.
Nissan even advertises that their Maxima is priced lower than the Genesis V6. lol
I loved the titanium grey myself and was torn between that and the Platinum silver. I decided to go with the Platinum.
Make sure to get the KDM wing badges for the car.
People will notice the badge and start to wonder what kind of car it is.

Three comments:
1. They revised suspension in 2010.
2. Safety is tops (air bags all over the place).
3. Warranty is tops. 10 year/100k on powertrain; 5yr/60,000 reg warranty (with roadside assistance); 7 year/unlimited rust warranty.
Bonus:
1. Oil changes, free car washes, and powertrain warranty for life if you are the original owner (my dealer's special deal).
2. To compare see: http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com...dai-genesis.htm Interesting site.
I liked the option selection: Other than color choose A (regular) or B (tech). Simple.

Good comments, guys. One other upgrade for 2010 is the motor actually makes 385hp, but they kept it advertised hp at 375hp. Not sure why, other than maybe cost of certification?

The thing that stood out to me is that the V8 hits 60 in 5.5-5.9s, the V6 in 5.8-6.1s. Apparently the V6 gets more aggressive gearing, so you don't really see that 80 hp difference between engines as much as you think you would.
