They Veyron needed 1001 HP, and advanced aero to hit 253mph. This things' going to need every bit of 2500HP+ to get 300. And 0-60 in 1.5 sec, better mean it's hiding the worlds lightest electric motors in there somewhere.

Don't know about 0-60 in 1.5 but 300mph sounds possible.

It has nothing to do with torque and everything to do with traction. Unless this car has the massive drag radials of a top fuel car (good luck doing anything besides going straight with these), I really doubt it can get anywhere below 2.5 seconds.

The article indicated 3 different models, so I'm figuring the top speed would be achieved with the "street-legal sport version" which I suspect will be a coupe. No actual data on that, just my wild-ass assumption.

...and on the subject, goddam do I hate all this terminology for different levels of performance/price/etc: Sportscar, Supercar, Hypercar, super-duper-dumdideolicous-car.

I call baloney. To make a car do those kinds of things, you have to compromise in so many areas to reach dedicated performance targets that are so extreme.

It'll be fast but it'll also be undriveable.

Only five will be manufactured in 2011 and all but two have been pre-sold.
Nice wording

I just looked up some info on top fuel cars. They run between 8500 and 10,000 HP and reach 100 mph in .7 seconds. Granted the Dagger would need some serious traction, but its power and numbers are no where near top fuel cars. Those numbers are hard to believe though. We'll have to wait until Capt. Slow gets the keys to one to see how it does.
