Wink DATSUN/NISSAN FAIRLADY W/ S2K TRANSPLANT

Call me insane, but I'm tired of driving the same cars everyone else has, and for the money and smog (in cali) these days, it takes way to much money to street legalize a vehicle.

I'm thinking of building a custom 67 fairlady roadster Datsun or 73 model 240z datsun w/ a s2k transplant.

has this been done before? if so i would really like some info to get started....

thanks

datsun 240z with s2000 drivetrain is a future project on my drawing board

On a related note, you should see how well s2000 seats fit and look inside a Z, looks like they belong in there.

How about a Datsun 2000/1600 transplant instead?

I think that's what he means by Fairlady. That's also what I'd do - try for a 1200-2000 roadster or better, get an 81-83 280ZX chassis (with t-tops) for cheap and put an F20 in that. 16000/2000s or 240/250 Zs are appreciating by themselves - not sure you'd be best served putting a Honda motor in one and ruining its inherent value, but the 280ZX won't be the classic the others will be, and might make a better car for the engine.

You'll run into smog issues withthe 280, or anything post 1975 which is why all cars with performance potential pre 1975 are worth more (and with muscle cars, substantially more) than a 1976.

Im thinking of taking my sr20det out of my '90 240sx drift project and drop it in a old school 240z. But my F20c is staying in my S!

I always thought a CBR 600 engine in a S600 would be cool. Same size and type engine, just twice the hp.
