I like it. I'd love to see Dodge sell it and out-MINI the MINI. Give it factory "sport" suspension option. Keep similar power to the MINI, but keep the weight and price lower.

I like it! if the caliber is selling, then I believe the hornet will have no problem at all.

The Hornet is slightly less ugly than the Scion. Maybe it has a nice personality?

That 'new' Ford Bronco looks great!

The MINI engine is more or less correct. BMW and Chrysler (pre DC) worked together on the motor. I believe it's a mostly if not entirely Chrysler designed motor. BMW is replacing it in the MINI next year. I suspect, like Ford's decision to pull the BMW V8 from the Range Rover, this is based on the politics of the auto business. The original engine supplier would be happy to keep providing engines but I suspect at a price that wouldn't make the buyer happy. It seems unlikely that DC would want to be a low cost engine supplier to BMW.
Note: While I know the MINI engine has at least some Chrysler DNA I am only speculating about the business links.

Have I gone batshit crazy, or does it seem to everyone else that there is a contest to design the ugliest/dorkiest possible looking little shitbox?

xA/xB, Fit, Hornet, Caliber, Jeep Compass, Yaris, Versa, FJ Cruiser, etc etc etc.

Why can't anyone design a good-looking car anymore?

The Fit looks ok. Kind of like an Odyssey that was left in the dryer too long. I wouldn't mind owning one for a DD though. The rest of them look too small and pudgy. Especially the Scion's. Every time I see a Scion Xb I can't help but think of a UPS truck. "What can Brown do for you"

And can some one please tell Toyota that the gauges belong in front of the driver and not off to the side!!!

Not my cup of tea, but it is a nice design and a nice car in its respective class... assuming production version does not stray too far from this prototype. Very JDM-ish... I think it will sell
