but in the end Im giving facts based on BMW's reasearch and engineering but what do they know, right?
LOL! Yeah, the HPFP warranty got extended to 100k. And extensive research showed that E46 subframe sucked! Yeah BMW has its flaws but I dont think there is a car company that gets it right the first time all the time. Espically when pushing the envelope of performance like they do. Also I see u have a 1M Love those cars!

Yeah but if BMW was perfect they wouldn't have needed to extend the HPFP warranty.
Don't get me wrong i love BMWs, but it pays to be more cautious when it comes to your maintenance, especially when most of us drive/track our cars harder than your average BMW driver.

BMW is far from perfect. Only Lexus is on that persuit. I agreee with u 100% on if u drive ur car extremely hard or even track it then of corse further maint is required but not to much. Thats why BMW uses DOT 4 brake fluid, huge brakes and way more oil than thought to be necessary. Cause these cars are made to be beat on. But with maybe only about 20-30% of M owners driving the car the way it was made to be driven the hard parkers do unnecessary maint.

BMW has its issues, many get recalls, extended warranties, free fixes. I still cant believe Honda made so many cars with defective trannies and failed issue a recall of some sort. Just yesterday saw 04 TL with broken tranny that had to get towed away.

Being a proud and former S2000 owner, and current pristine Z4M owner, I would definitely get the M3. It's a special car and thrills you in ways that only few cars can. My Z4M provides me the same thrills and driving experience that the S2000 did, but on steroids. The 135i is a great car and is fast in its own right, but unless you're getting a 1 Series M, I would stick with the M3. Try and pick up as late and low mileage of an E46 model as you can, which would have all the kinks worked out and a longer ongoing history of ownership under you.
